Behold I Stand at the Door and Knock

Behold, I Stand at the Door and Knock, recorded live at Community Family Church in Independence, Kentucky, opens with a feast of Spirit-filled music: “Let It Rise” (Mark Ellis and the CFC Praise & Worship Team); “I Shall Not Be Moved” (Josh Bates and the CFC P&W Team); “One Thing Remains” (Mark Ellis and the CFC P&W Team); “Sing Unto The Lord A New Song” (Josh Bates and Ashley Bernal Ramirez); and “We Shall See The King” (Josh Bates and the CFC P&W Team).

In this riveting message, Pastor Tommy Bates unfolds the grim prophecy concerning many churches in the last days before the return of Christ. Revelation 3:14-22 contains a warning to the church at Laodicea which had strayed from the path clearly laid out in Scripture. Instead of worshipping God and following His teachings, the people had turned to themselves. “Laodicea,” Pastor Bates notes, means “rule by the people.” This inversion of the Divine plan leads away from an on-fire, Spirit-led church to a “lukewarm” collection of CINOs—“Christians In Name Only.” Jesus utters his fateful warning to this self-centered, counterfeit church: “I will spue thee out of my mouth” because you have become no different from everyone else. This early church had lost the life-changing gift that Christ had bestowed on his people through the mighty power of the Holy Spirit.

So it is in these last days, when the indifferent spirit of Laodicea, fueled by the Enemy, has reappeared, leading many individuals and church bodies to seek to rule over themselves rather than completely surrender to Christ. They refuse to allow the Holy Spirit to guide a powerful, and often painful, transformation of their lives. He wants to change us—and then change us some more–until we conform to the image of Christ. But this process can only be brought to completion in those who yield to the Spirit and fully accept Scripture as the only “manual” to consult, and to follow, in order to live a victorious life. Jesus spews out the lukewarm.  But he fervently seeks those who will accept Him: “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me” (Rev 3:20).

This vital message will help you see God’s precious Word for what it truly is: a gift infinitely more “precious than gold.”
