Make Me To Know Wisdom

The magnificent prayer of David recorded in Psalm 51 informs this inspired message on wisdom by Pastor Tommy Bates recorded live at Christ Temple Church in Huntington, West Virginia. In praying for cleansing and forgiveness, David asks God for wisdom: “Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom” (Ps. 51:6). The world looks for wisdom, just as it does for love: in all the wrong places. You can never become wise on your own. For “wisdom,” Pastor Bates declares, is not the work of man: it “is God’s answer to man’s problems.” Wisdom is a gift, not an achievement. You can deepen it. You can nurture it. You can apply it to many circumstances. But you can’t create it on your own.

If you seek to be wise, submit yourself to God through surrender, repentance, faith, prayer and praise. Then God, who is the source of all wisdom, can convey a measure of it to your inmost self.
